In 1958, Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church began its ministry in Oak Lawn,
IL. Since then, Trinity has committed itself to reaching out and engaging the
surrounding community. Whether it be through the Summer Kids program,
concerts on the lawn, Noah's Ark Preschool, Tutoring, or many of the other
programs that the church offers, members of Trinity Covenant strive to seek
out and meet the needs of the community that it has placed itself in.
Walk into Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church on any given Sunday, and you
are sure to be surrounded by people like you -- people who are giving their
best effort to live out a life of faith through acts of service, studying the
word, and fellowship. Programs are designed to enhance the core values of
the church: Worship, Fellowship, Prayer, Mission, Committed Lay Leadership,
Committed Laity, Stewardship, Evangelism and Outreach, Christian
Formation, and Youth Ministry. Traditional and relevant, Trinity Covenant has
become a shining light in its community, opening its doors to those from
many diverse backgrounds, and welcoming them into the family of faith.
Trinity's preaching and teaching centers around the Evangelical Covenant
Church's affirmations of the centrality of the Word of God, new birth in
Christ, dependence on the Holy Spirit, freedom in Christ, and the fellowship
of the believers. Beginning as a revival movement in Sweden (and therefore
being a Reformation church and an Apostolic church, the Covenant holds a
commitment to being evangelical, but not exclusive; biblical, but not
doctrinaire; congregational, but not independent; and traditional, but not
rigid. Because of this tradition, Trinity Covenant stands as a bridge,
connecting those whose backgrounds are in "traditional" worship, and
those who come from more "contemporary" worship settings.
Whatever your background, Trinity Covenant would like to welcome you into
the fold. The numerous outreach ministries are always being added onto and
expanded: the Children's Sunday School is ready to teach your children
Biblical truths and values; the Adult Sunday School builds its strong program
with excellent teaching from North Park Seminary professors; the
Confirmation program for 7th and 8th graders encourages pre-teens to dig
into the background and foundation of their faith; the Tutoring Program
reaches out to the community with one-on-one tutoring for local children
who are hungry for help with school work, comprehension, and support; the
various age-categorized groups offer opportunities for friendship and
fellowship; the list goes on and on. It is Trinity's commitment that you feel
welcome and wanted, and that your faith and trust in God grows during your
time here.
